David has an accomplished and proven track record in delivering superior investment performance from property development, fund, portfolio and asset management with more than 30 years’ experience gained across mature and emerging markets and all real estate asset classes.
Having worked in the UK, across Europe, the USA and currently based in the Middle East, David has experience in a wide range of property matters including fund & investment management and property development and is a specialist in real estate/property asset management for all asset classes.
David was Global Head of Asset Management for the Royal Bank of Scotland Group leading the corporate real estate team through the takeover of NatWest (and other mergers and acquisitions) and managed the integration and ten-fold increase in the size of this property portfolio over a five year period including the bank’s global expansion.
Since 2007, David has been based in the Middle East, as Senior Vice President with Majid Al Futtaim where he managed and developed a significant property development business (portfolio end value in excess of USD 20 billion) before taking up his current role as Fund Manager with SinoGulf based in Abu Dhabi. Currently, David is managing a USD 300 million closed-end investment and development fund (IndustRE Development Fund) with an investment remit across the GCC Region.
David also has extensive expertise and experience in managing and developing businesses including P&L responsibility, (re)structuring business operations, business turnarounds, global & regional management and business development. He has particular expertise in formulating and implementing business, portfolio and asset strategies including portfolio restructuring and rationalisation as well as managing both major transactions and capital expenditure projects & programmes.
As a senior industry figure, David is a frequent speaker, panelist and moderator at conferences, seminars and networking events and also a university visiting lecturer. He is a member of a number of industry awards judging panels and contributes regularly to various market journals and publications and provides peer and technical reviews of articles and papers prepared by others.
