David Colakovic

founder, entreprenuer, and business owner in United Kingdom

David Colakovic is the founder and owner of Eco-Power Group, a Doncaster-based network of businesses focused on waste recovery, recycling, construction, and low-emission fuel production. He launched the company in 2013 with a single skip hire firm. Today, it’s one of the largest independent waste management networks in the North of England, generating around £60 million in annual turnover.

Colakovic stays hands-on with operations and planning across the group’s companies, which include Eco-Power Skips, Eco-Power Civil Engineering, Eco-Power Plant Hire, Eco-Power Wood Fuels, and Eco-Power HWC. Its facilities in South Yorkshire and Humberside process tens of thousands of tonnes of material each year using bio-drying tunnels, trommels, infrared sorting systems, and manual picking lines. These operations help turn waste into usable resources, such as solid recovered fuel (SRF), refuse-derived fuel (RDF), and kiln-dried biomass for low-emission heating and power.

He’s also behind Eco-Power Racing, a purpose-built horse training facility near Langton Wold Gallops. With more than 30 stables and additional phases underway, the site blends his interest in racing with an eco-conscious approach to land development.

The Eco-Power name is now familiar across Yorkshire thanks to long-standing partnerships with regional venues and clubs. In 2021, David Colakovic secured naming rights to the Eco-Power Stadium, home to Doncaster Rovers FC and Doncaster RLFC. Since then, the stadium has hosted England Women’s U-23 matches, concerts by The Killers and Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott, and nationally televised boxing events through GBM Sports. Eco-Power also sponsors the grandstand at Doncaster Racecourse, Rossington Main FC, and the Doncaster Belles.

To coordinate its charitable efforts, Colakovic founded the Eco-Power Foundation, a registered charity that supports health, education, and hardship relief. Projects include a £30,000 fundraiser for a young cancer patient, a charity football match in Brodsworth for a local woman’s medical care, and community events in partnership with #Walkingsbrilliant to raise awareness for mental health. He’s also a supporter of the Eve Merton Dreams Trust, which helps families affected by terminal illness.

In 2024, Eco-Power expanded its fleet of low-emission vehicles and invited the public to help name its new waste mascot—an initiative that connected sustainability with local participation.
