David Devlin, a New York University graduate, began his career as a still photographer. After earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts, he became a cinematographer and has created projects ranging from high profile films to commercials to music videos. He has worked on high profile films with Martin Scorsese, Gus Van Sant, James Brooks, and Janusz Kaminski. He was also the lighting director on 11 Steven Spielberg films such as Jurassic Park: The Lost World, Saving Private Ryan, Minority Report, Catch Me If You Can, War of the Worlds, and Lincoln. Even though he is a cinematographer now, Devlin continues to incorporate still photography in his advertising campaigns. His most well-known campaign was for the 2013 Spring collection of Dolce & Gabbana that was shot in Sicily, Italy. His inspiration for the campaign came from a 1940’s Luchino Visconti movie about fishermen that used locals as the cast. Other advertising campaigns Devlin has been a part of include Tommy Hilfiger, Prada, Armani, and A&W Root Beer. Devlin has received several cinematography award nominations during his career, including a Best Cinematography nomination at the International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography. He has received media mention for other projects where he designed and coordinated the lighting as well. Residing in Bozeman, Montana, Devlin enjoys skiing and hiking in his free time. He is also an avid supporter of Fisher House for Veterans, which offers family members accommodation when a loved one is receiving medical treatment at another location.
