Technical Communication Specialist in London, United Kingdom
I'm Technical Consultancy Director for Myriad Associates. We help UK companies identify and maximise public funding for their businesses through R&D Tax Credits and R&D Grant Funding. For more information about these topics see my LinkedIn profile (https://uk.linkedin.com/in/davidfarbey) or visit the Myriad Associates website (www.myriadassociates.com)
Previously, I had a 20+ -year career in technical communication, during which time I wrote, edited, designed, developed, and delivered a wide range of technical and business documents for employers and clients in many industry sectors.
For about 10 years I was a part-time Associate Lecturer for the distance-learning MA in Technical Communication course at Sheffield Hallam University, and I have presented at numerous professional tech comm events. I blog (infrequently) about content strategy, information design, and tech comm in general at Marginal Notes (www.marginalnotes.co.uk).
As a volunteer Council Member of the Institute of Scientific and Technical Communicators, I was Chair of TCUK (www.technicalcommunicationuk.com), the UK's leading annual conference for Technical Communication professionals, for four years (2012-2015). I'm currently the Council Member responsible for Professional Development and Recognition, which includes education, training and CPD. In September 2016 I became a Fellow of the RSA (https://www.thersa.org/).
My general interests are politics (pro-EU, anti-Brexit, left, and green), humanism, popular science, and photography. Not a lot really.
