David G. Herrera

In his more than 40-year career in law enforcement, security, and investigations, David G. Herrera commenced his career as a Parole Agent for the Department of Youth Authority & Corrections in California and progressed to a Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of the United States Department of Justice. Currently, he acts and travels in a managerial capacity within the Global Security and Governance Group for the Barrick Gold Corporation of Toronto, Canada. David G. Herrera also serves as a California licensed Private Investigator (PI), primarily assisting employers in identifying security risks and malfeasance issues. He founded the PI firm, Herrera Investigative Services, Inc., in 1995. He serves as President.

As a DEA Special Agent for 24 years, David G. Herrera rose from a Special Agent in Los Angeles to a Supervisory Special Agent in four other domestic and international postings. He had tours of duty in Los Angeles, Washington DC as Internal Security Inspector, Staff Coordinator, and as a Course Developer and Instructor at the DEA International Training Division. Over a three-year period, he developed courses and trained in excess of 1,500 police officers in more than 50 countries in narcotics enforcement techniques. He served foreign tours as the Special Agent/Assistant Country Attaché in Santiago, Chile and Mexico City, where he held concurrent diplomatic status. Mr. Herrera was the DEA Special Agent in Charge (Country Attaché) in Madrid, Spain for six years before returning to the Miami and nearby Fort Lauderdale office to complete his DEA career.

Mr. Herrera is bilingual in English and Spanish. His areas of expertise include international, diplomatic, and domestic investigations in complex criminal and civil cases and in the preparation of reports for litigation support. Following 9/11, David G. Herrera also worked in the Airport Training Division of the Government Training Section as a Master Training Instructor, traveling to various US international airports, where he illuminated new TSA baggage screeners on bomb and explosive detection techniques.
