David Gross
Writer and Filmmaker
David Gross is a film and TV writer. Over the past decade, he has successfully sold pilots to Fox Network, Twentieth Century Fox, and Berman Braun. He was also a staff writer on Comedy Central's SECRET GIRLFRIEND and NBC's OUTSOURCED.
Presently, he is co-founder of Blox Toppling Productions, an independent production company he runs with his wife and writing partner, Gennefer Gross.
David and Gennefer have been writing as a team for over a decade with a focus on projects that are high concept with a grounded execution. The duo has more than a dozen original TV pilots, ranging from a dark comedy about a heroin-addicted professional bowler called PINS & NEEDLES, a SEX AND THE CITY spin-off centered on the evolution of Post-It infamous Jack Berger, aptly named BERGER, a re-imagining of Jim Morrison’s origin story entitled MORRISON RISING, and an irreverent female-led comedy, THE NEXT STAGE, about an actress navigating the treacherous terrain of Hollywood over 40 while she and her son begin their freshman year together at UCLA. They also have a Tibetan limited spy series in the works.
Their feature projects are equally eclectic with a road trip comedy chronicling an unlikely friendship between a struggling novelist and Matthew McConaughey called FOLLOWING GREENLIGHTS, an action comedy set in Scotland, THE LOCH NESS MOBSTER, a rock biopic of the band Oasis, LIVE FOREVER, and an ensemble comedy, POISONING JORDAN (based on the pizza story from THE LAST DANCE).
The Grosses were also Consultants on Season 11 of HBO’s hit series CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM.
Look for their upcoming podcast, SNACKILY EVER AFTER, where couples share their obsession with food and each other in uninhibited conversations, about love, sex, and of course, snacks!
In his spare time, David can be found procrastinating on Twitter, on the hunt for LA's best milkshake, and contributing to The Arrow.
