David Kroll

Durham, North Carolina

An award-winning pharmacy educator and 20-year academic cancer pharmacology researcher, David recently switched gears, establishing the public understanding of science as his primary scholarly activity. He teaches basic news writing for undergraduates and health & environmental journalism in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHASS) at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. David has carried to journalism his longstanding mission to cultivate underrepresented minority trainees in science and medicine.

As a freelance journalist, David contributes regularly to Forbes.com's Pharma & Healthcare section and the CENtral Science blog network of Chemical & Engineering News, the weekly publication of the American Chemical Society. David's work has also appeared in INDY Week, The News & Observer, The Charlotte Observer, ASBMB Today, The Open Notebook, and Results magazine. He is a member of the Association of Health Care Journalists, the National Association of Science Writers, the National Association for Black Journalists, and the American Medical Writers' Association.

David is a native of the New York City suburb of Wallington, New Jersey. He now lives in Durham, North Carolina, with his wife, daughter, and three beagles.
