David is an experienced corporate and commercial lawyer, and a General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, with a skilled and nationally recognized ability to develop and successfully implement highly efficient and innovative legal solutions that drive business objectives.

David currently serves WorkSafeNB, a Canadian Provincial Crown corporation and regulator with over $2.1 Billion in assets and around $400 Million in annual revenues, as their General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, and is a member of their Executive Leadership Team.

David has advised the organization, including both its Board and management, through a number of complex and material transactions, including: divisional restructurings, the outsourcing of its appeals functions, the outsourced management of its $2.1 Billion in assets, the procurement and sourcing of core IT systems, and through the divestiture of one of the organization's largest assets. David also oversees management of a large and complex litigation portfolio, including statutory appeal activities and litigation in both Canada and the USA.

David's work in developing and successfully implementing innovative legal solutions has been recognized nationally, including at the 2023 Canadian General Counsel Awards; by the Canadian Lawyer Magazine, National Post, Financial Post, legalwriter.net and other national publications; and, at the 2023 Canadian Corporate Counsel Association / Mondaq Awards, where WorkSafeNB was the recipient of the national "Innovation Impacting the Profession Award".

Prior to serving as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for WorkSafeNB, David had a very busy private practice focusing primarily on corporate law, with an emphasis on private equity M&A transactions, financings, and complex reorganizations, where he regularly advised and acted for some of the largest organizations in Atlantic Canada on business defining transactions.

David strives to leave no stone unturned; he questions existing assumptions to uncover legal issues and develop more creative solutions. David is licensed and eligible to practice law in several Canadian jurisdictions, including Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
