David Marmel

A highly successful television producer and entertainment industry executive, David Marmel embarked on his professional career more than 40 years ago when he created the Victor Awards, a special televised event that preceded ESPN’s Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards (ESPY Awards) by several decades. After establishing the Victor Awards in 1967, David Marmel set out to pursue new professional challenges, collaborating with his wife Elaine Marmel to found Mrs. America Inc. in 1976.

Following an extremely positive reception by audiences and sponsors alike, David Marmel expanded Mrs. America Inc. on a global platform, instituting the Mrs. World Pageant in 1985. Watched by millions of viewers across the globe, the Mrs. World Pageant draws contestants from over 50 countries, celebrating married women and family values with both glamour and respect. The Mrs. World Pageant operates under the auspice of Mrs. World Inc., a California-based company that David Marmel currently oversees in the capacity of President.

In 1980, David Marmel accepted an offer to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. Olympics Committee’s Entertainment & Special Events division. David Marmel maintained this role until 1984, ceding his leadership duties after that year’s Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles, California. In conjunction with his work with the U.S. Olympic Committee’s Entertainment & Special Events arm, David Marmel devoted a great deal of time and energy to the production of the American Black Achievement Awards (ABAA). Mr. Marmel acted as Executive Producer of the ABAAs throughout the 1980s.

Maintaining a firm commitment to bettering the lives of the less fortunate, David Marmel is actively involved in a number of eclectic charitable efforts. Deriving considerable personal satisfaction from his philanthropic endeavors, David Marmel supports City of Hope, a NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles. Mr. Marmel also donates to the John Wayne Cancer Institute, the Special Olympics, the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc., the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, and the American Diabetes Association, among others.
