David Mashburn, M.Ed.

David Mashburn holds a Bachelor of Music Education in Piano and Voice from the University of Montevallo- Alabama’s oldest and most respected music school in the state. In 1991, David completed Post-Baccalaureate studies in Theatre at Georgia State University and attended the HB Studio in NYC for scene study.

Some of David's favorite regional theatrical roles include the Dentist in Little Shop of Horrors, Rudolfo in A View from the Bridge, Serge in The Food Chain, the teacher in School House Rock, Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls, multiple characters in The Harvey Milk Show and Raywanda in Saga: The Story of Whitney Bonneville. David has been seen on stage at the 14th Street Playhouse, Neighborhood Playhouse, Actor's Express, Terrific New Theatre, the World Congress Center and the Crystal Pistol Theatre at Six Flags Over Georgia.

In 1995, David earned a Master of Education in Counseling from Georgia State University and completed 2 more years of additional Post-Graduate Studies in Counseling at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1999. In 2013, David became an ordained interfaith minister. David has 25 years of combined teaching and counseling experience in the public school, university and clinical settings.

Although David combines compassionate listening with intuition and empathy, he demonstrates an eclectic approach to helping others grounded within humanistic, existential and transpersonal psychology and philosophy. Some of David's areas of expertise and interests include anxiety, depression, addiction/substance abuse, loss/grief, trauma/post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), relationships, personal development, creativity, life purpose, spirituality, consciousness, lesbian/gay/bisexuality/transgendered (LGBT) issues, coming out, HIV/AIDS, careers and artist development.

In addition to psychotherapy, David also provides life and career coaching which is tailored for people who do not have clinically significant mental health problems or diagnoses. Adult clients (ages 20+) are self-motivated, open-minded, and love to learn. Although individuals may have a general uneasy sense that something needs to change, they struggle insofar as knowing where to start.
