David Matteson, founder and principal of Deephaven Strategic Marketing, is an award winning leader, consultant, and advisor to profit and non-profit organizations in the United States.

He started his career as a leading financial advisor for American Express Financial, excelled in progressive leadership roles for Consumer Marketing, Sales Development, and was the Chief Marketer and Senior Vice President for American Express Life Insurance. More recently David was the CEO of Deephaven Financial, and the Director, Chief Commercial Officer for the nonprofit Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.

Throughout his career he has helped corporate & community leaders, boards, teams and stakeholders successfully navigate the strategic planning process, build marketing & communications platforms, engage communities, and tap the spirit and the power of mission.
