All human progress in fields from treating the unhealthy to harvesting energy sustainably is linked to biology. That's why I want to become a biologist. I currently study at the Novy PORG gymnasium in Prague, Czech Republic.

I was born and have lived in Prague all my life so far and am a proud Praguer, but early on have enjoyed learning English from films, books and computer games. It was a way of escaping from the boundaries of my own culture and getting to know the outside.

From an early age I liked writing short stories and poems. Seeing how atrocious they were back then, I take a little more care when writing fiction and lyrical poetry today and don't write as frequently. One day, perhaps, the moment will even arrive when I am satisfied with what I write. I do translations and text review part-time.

When I was in third grade, I started playing the piano and though I do not engage in this very often, I can still learn a tune decently given time for rehearseal.

At the age of about 11 years, I took up programming. I adored old Macintosh computers and writing my own applications for them, including games, in BASIC became a hobby. I dabbled also in HTML and JavaScript but am currently a bit out of practice.

My stronger passion for natural sciences other than mathematics was probably fully kindled by the book The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins. He remains a big inspiration for me and the reason I love evolutionary theory and its intricate connections to game theory and theories also relevant in economics.

When I have the opportunity and equipment, I love experimenting and research in science, particularly microbiology.

I also take interest in recent news and like to think of myself as an educated voter in my own country, but also a person well aware of foreign affairs.

As to humanities, I take great interest in studying some Jewish history and the Jewish culture.

In 2013 I spent 5 months living with a host family near Graz, Austria where I learned to speak German and studied shortly at a local school and gained a certificate of recognition for very good performace. Currently I'm learning Spanish.
