To live and create in an environment that is beautiful, comfortable and full of inspiration, is a basic human need, and not, as I see it, a luxury. Our homes, furniture, and all the tools we build are an expression of who we are, just as a piece of music, a book or any other kind of art is an expression of who we are. The field of design has a unique standing, because it encompasses the things that make our most immediate, day to day environment.
