I grew up in Omaha, and in Des moines every other weekend, as I grew up in a split home. I struggled to know what it felt like to be a part of a family, I felt that I was a part of two but neither in a deep, meaningful way. As I grew up I started seeing my friends families and that fueled my jealously. I started searching for love and community in places that I could never get it. Porn, popularity, and girls became more important than God in my life. I was locked into a downward spiral. It wasn't until God rocked my world that I would recognize I need him. I hit rock bottom hard when I was confronted about my actions. I did not understand the destructive path I was on.
It was because of the local church, and my youth pastor, Brian Kindley that I was able to experience the saving grace of Jesus. I began to live my life different, I walked away from porn and I put starting putting my identity in Jesus rather then in people. Striving to be love, joy, and peace like he was. As I started to shape my self in his image he began to reveal the gifts he has given me. God has gifted me with music, and for engaging with people. God continues to shape these gifts in me and I have a lot to learn still. This walk with Christ has been a struggle day in and day out, but I am so grateful for the story that he has written on my heart, the people that he has placed in life, and the people that he has allowed me to connect and grow with.
I have served at two churches through this time, the first being my home church Wildewood Christian Church. This is where I developed my passion for ministry. I had several people that invested huge amounts in me there, Jeff Peters and Brian Kindley being the biggest ones. Jeff was the worship pastor and instilled in me the passion for greatness, and for humility. His passion for worship is what sparked my interest in the area. Brian was my youth pastor, he had countless hard conversations with me. He never failed to set me on a path of greatness, a path that Jesus had set before me. The second church is Calvary. Here I have had a whole new experience where I have been tested time and time again. It is at Calvary that I have learned some of my biggest lessons. Calvary has blessed me with the chance to be on the youth team and the worship team. I had responsibilities including creating Ableton tracks, planning services, organizing teams, and investing in the student leaders.
I believe that God has placed the church
