The founder and President of Equity Gaming, LLC, David Schugar has worked in the casino gaming industry for more than 30 years. David Schugar’s extensive experience includes working in all aspects of casino management and gaming operations at numerous casinos across the United States. For the first leg of his managerial career, David Schugar served in various roles for Sahara Gaming Corp including positions as the Director of Casino Operations for two Las Vegas establishments: the Santa Fe Station Hotel & Casino and the Hacienda Hotel & Casino. In 1995, David Schugar left Sahara Gaming Corp. to join Mandalay Resort Group. Again taking on increasingly challenging roles during his tenure with the company as the Vice President and General Manager at two of their properties including the Gold Strike Casino and Resort in Mississippi and the Nevada Landing Hotel and Casino in Nevada. In Mississippi also served as President of the Tunica Casino Operators’ Association, Inc. It was in that position that David oversaw the largest casino task force in the history of the Mississippi casino industry resulting in a successful investigation of a extensive casino theft operation. Later, upon the sale of Mandalay Bay Resorts to the MGM Mirage David moved from Mississippi to Indiana, joining the Majestic Star Casino LLC in 2005 and serving as a Senior Vice President and General at their two casinos in Indiana through 2008. In April 2005, David Schugar founded Equity Gaming, LLC, an intellectual property company which designs innovative electronic and table games for casinos. As the company’s President, David coordinates patent searches, creates mathematical models for games, and assists in the development of marketing materials for proprietary games and promotions David Schugar attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and taught at the Clark County Community College in their casino management program. David also studied managerial coursework at the Dale Carnegie Training’s Leadership Training for Managers program. In 2008, David Schugar authored a notable article on responsible gaming that was published by the National Council on Problem Gambling. David Schugar is a Lifetime Member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). He is a dedicated reader of the Harvard Business Review and enjoys soccer, ping-pong, tennis, and swimming.
