In addition to my clinical research positions in Medical Social Sciences and Northwestern Integrative Medicine, I'm the founder of a nonprofit organization called TRUE NORTH TREKS, which supports young adults with cancer (ages 18-39) by taking them on week-long backpacking and canoeing treks in beautiful wilderness destinations where they can connect with nature, connect other survivors and connect with themselves through instruction in mindfulness meditation and positive health behavioral change strategies. I live in Evanston, Illinois with my wife Gretchen and children Isa and Emmett. We enjoy standup paddle-boarding, growing fruits and veggies in our garden, getting fresh eggs from our backyard chickens and playing with our dog Goldie.
