David W. Vidal, MBA
Small Business Marketer, College Instructor, and Business Owner in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada
I was born in Lima, Peru in 1980.
I built my first career there — television reporter, public relations consultant, then Director of Operations at Imedia Comunicaciones, a communications firm I helped grow from 15 employees and 10 clients to 165 employees, 109 clients, and 20 branches across Peru. I left in 2010 with the company in the best shape of its history, and moved to Vancouver, Canada with one bag and a lot of conviction.
What came next was not a straight line.
I studied hospitality. I worked in restaurants. I rediscovered marketing from the ground up — not from a textbook, but from watching small business owners work incredibly hard and still plateau. Not because they lacked effort or intelligence. Because nobody had ever given them a system.
That observation became the foundation of everything I've built since.
Today I'm the Founder and CEO of Vidl Agency Inc. — a full-service marketing agency based in Vancouver that works with home service businesses and founder-led small companies across North America. We don't sell tactics. We build growth systems — structured, sequenced, and designed to compound over time.
Over 15 years of working inside the reality of small business, I developed three frameworks that form the intellectual core of my work:
The VIDL Growth System™ — a 7-step operating framework that defines what to build, when, and why sequence matters more than any single tactic.
Trust = (Clarity × Credibility × Consistency) ÷ Perceived Risk.
A model that turns abstract trust-building into measurable business math.
The Trust-Building Funnel™ — a reframed buyer journey for service businesses, where every stage builds the trust required to move to the next.
These frameworks are not theories. They are pattern recognition from years of watching the same avoidable mistakes repeat across industries, and building systems to fix them.
In 2026 I published The Owner's Guide to Not Fcking It Up (Again) — a brutally honest guide to doing marketing right, built around the VIDL Growth System™. It is the book I wished someone had handed every business owner who ever called me at midnight wondering why their marketing wasn't working.
The book is available on Amazon.
I also teach Digital Marketing and Consumer Behaviour at BCIT's School of Business + Media in Vancouver — because I believe the most important thing you can give a future marketer is not a tool set, but a way of thinking.
I speak at conferences, trade associations, and business communities across Canada and Latin America — in English and Spanish — on marketing structure, trust-driven growth, and the frameworks that change how owners think about their business.
I am a keynote speaker, workshop facilitator, and podcast guest. My talks are built for business owners, not marketers. No jargon. No recycled frameworks. Ideas audiences leave the room using.

I live in Burnaby, BC with my two sons.
I speak four languages. I am an introvert who learned to perform in public. I believe systems outlast heroics. And I believe the most powerful thing a business can build is trust — because trust is the only math that never lies.
