Hello everyone! My name is David Whitten. I’m proud to say I am a tenth generation Mainer and that this is my second State Convention as I was a delegate for President Obama in 2008. This year I was a Caucus Captain for Bernie and worked tirelessly to sign up Delegates for this convention. I’m now ready to do the hard work required in Philadelphia. In my view, the work that the Maine Delegation to Philadelphia must do is to get to know Secretary Clinton’s National Delegates and Soft Pledged Super Delegates and to identify those with wavering or unenthusiastic support for Hillary and work to flip these delegates to Bernie Sanders. We must also be prepared to fight for rule changes and to be ready to convince others and wrangle votes for these changes. We are heading to a contested convention with momentum on our side! As a member of Maine’s National Delegation I promise you I will work tirelessly to befriend Hillary’s delegates and to be prepared to fight for every vote in a second round of voting should it comes to that.
