The Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello by Johann Sebastian Bach are some of the most recognised and universally loved pieces of music written for cello.

What is the most striking and unique about the Suites is that they can express, and therefore accommodate to be performed in any emotions. There are no directions at all on mood and colour. They can evoke an entirely personal experience for each listener. Perhaps it is this quality that makes us, who live in a global, information age, so willing to surrender to a sound world that existed in the mind of someone who lived three hundred years ago in a country which he never even left during his entire life.
