Growing up in the Bronx, basketball is what I turned to keep my head straight and focused on being successful. Playing basketball has taught me plenty of life lessons. As a kid, I never thought about travel the country. However, once I started playing Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball at 13, I visited places like Las Vegas, Philadelphia, and Florida. My first year of high school I attended Rice High School on scholarship and won the Freshmen Basketball Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) Championship. From there, I transferred to Wings Academy High School in my sophomore year. There, I finished my high school basketball career and went to the Final Four two years in a row. Now, I am chasing my dreams of playing basketball on the professional level, either in the NBA or a league overseas. My first stop is Westchester Community College, where I am studying sports management as a backup plan. I am currently a sophomore and the captain of my team, the Westchester Viking. I am looking to earn a scholarship at a National College Athletic Association (NCAA) Division 1 school. My goal is to do what I love for the rest of my life. One life lesson I learned from playing basketball is “Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard,” as stated by Kevin Durant.
