I have a strong understanding of the impact of generational poverty and societal discrimination on health outcomes and have applied this knowledge in previous leadership roles to create and lead several initiatives aimed at addressing the social determinants of health and improving community health outcomes.

These experiences have honed my skills in fostering strategic partnerships with local and regional community-based organizations., managing cross-functional teams, and motivating staff and partners. A few of these experiences include:

  • Cultivated and enhanced long-standing, multi-sector partnerships with diverse organizations; Public Health Departments, Community-Based Organizations., University Medical School, Federally Qualified Health Centers, Schools, Community-Based Organizations., For-profits, and State and Local Governments.
  • Led, coordinated, and implemented initiatives and programs focused on improved nutrition, increased access to fresh, local produce, and reduced consumption of sugary beverages, that served 14 counties and resulted in increased access to healthy produce in 5 counties, the adoption of policies that limited access to soda and sugary drinks in 2 counties and improved access to needed resources and programing.
  • Planned and provided technical assistance and training to diverse groups (staff, public health professionals, medical students, college students, CBO staff) which included developing presentations, educational tools, and guidance on effective processes and program implementation.
  • Managed state and federally funded grant programs and budgets to maximize funding, created and implemented detailed work plans, led program evaluation, developed process improvement strategies and monthly/quarterly/ and annual reporting.

Overall, I am a highly effective, innovative, and motivated self-starter and problem solver who works well autonomously and within a team. I am eager to get back to doing work that helps people live healthier lives and I can be available for an interview immediately.
