Dawn T. Mangham

Miami, Florida, United States

Dawn T. Mangham started her journey in Coconut Grove, Florida. As a child, Dawn discovered a love for music and that she was gifted in song. She began singing at around the age of six and was soon introduced to the voice of Deniece Williams. That was when she decided that singing was what she wanted to pursue. Counting among her influences the dynamic voices of Anita Baker, Teena Marie and Chaka Khan, she has been chasing that purpose ever since.

After graduating Coral Gables Senior High, Dawn embarked upon the college experience by attending Tuskegee University in Alabama. She was a declared Political Science major but spent most of her time in English courses and socializing with her friends that were part of the school’s marching band. Having lost her mother at the end of her sophomore year, she also found herself faced with questions that she had never contemplated. The time led her to have a deeper reflection and appreciation of those things that are important. She left Tuskegee University without her degree to pursue her passion, music.

In the years following her experience at Tuskegee University, she was fortunate enough to work with such bands as Irbs & Spices and Phase II Connection in South Florida which specialized in Funk, R&B;, Light Rock and Jazz. She has also recorded original material in the studio with legends like bassist Victor Bailey. She has previously used her voice as a co-host for That’s My Word Reality Radio with Mike “the Solution” Lee and Mari “Morena” Torres. Additionally, she is a freelance writer/editor, creativity broker, host of The Dawngeon Radio Show. She currently holds a Bachelors in Marketing from University of Phoenix and a Masters of Science in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University.

Dawn is owner of The Maxima Collective and the visionary behind The Dreaded Indie. Through her company she consults emerging artists and fledgling companies plan and implement marketing campaigns. In her spare time, she also serves as a temporary instructor for Miami Dade County Public Schools.
