Dayanna is a rising second-year Master of Public Health student at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health. She is pursuing a concentration in Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences, as well as a certificate in Genetic and Molecular Epidemiology.
Dayanna is currently working as a research assistant for the Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education where she is conducting a scoping review on the current state of interventions promoting the uptake of cancer screening and genomic services among the Latinx community in the U.S and Latin America. She is a former research assistant at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where she studied social connectedness and its effects on cardiovascular disease outcomes.
Dayanna hopes to continue her education and expand her research knowledge by pursuing doctoral programs in public health. Her research interests lie at the intersection of genomics, strategies for health equity promotion, and chronic disease prevention.
Dayanna holds a Psychology B.A. with a Society and Genetics minor from the University of California, Los Angeles. Dayanna is passionate about the promotion of health equity and about uplifting underserved communities. In her downtime, Dayanna enjoys working on her planner and writing in her journal. She loves being able to capture moments as they are and reflecting on growth/change.
