Valentines Day! What a fantastic time for romantics at heart! Any excuse to enjoy every day of lamour is in my opinion, a great excuse and about the 14th February cards, flowers and the entire love thing will be celebrated for many with style and romance.

The annals of this day has roots in both Christian and Ancient Roman tradition. As a matter of fact there are various stories surrounding Valentine and the morning it was yet to become. In line with the Catholic Encyclopedia (1908) you can find least three St Valentines noted.

One story has it that in 269 AD in ancient Rome, Saint Valentine was secretly doing marriages and engagements in direct contravention of the Emperor Claudius II, who barred marriages and engagements in an effort to recruit and enlist more troops (hiring figures were down as the men wanted to stay with their loved ones). Alas and alack it was all-too great to last, when St Valentines secret was discovered, as punishment for his crime, he was cast into jail, beaten with clubs, followed by delivery.

The story goes that before he was beheaded o-n 14th February, he fell in love with his jailors child and wrote her a billet-doux (love letter). Its said he signed off on his note with out of your valentine. Several years later in 496 AD, Valentines Day Pope Gelasius declared a day of honor for Valentine and so started.

Meanwhile, in old Roman times recognized Juno and the 14th February recognized, Queen of Roman Goddesses and Gods who was simply also said to be Goddess of woman and marriage.

Another legend has it that Valentine was an earlier Christian who made friends with many children. The Romans obviously caught him because h-e didnt worship their gods. The youngsters, absent Valentine, would give him loving notes through the bars of his cell.

Whatever the legends, the 14th February may be the time where a lot of us exchange cards (anonymously or-not) and make a move romantic for our partner.

Having a fairly good idea on what women want, plants, chocolates, and a card (yes I know some people remain ready) I wondered what men wanted and so asked several men if they might have something they really wanted what would it not be?

The majority of responses Im unable to reprint (side splittingly funny none the less) and asked them to think seriously about what they would want to have o-n Valentines Day. Navigate to this web site
