A Grand Rapids, MI native, Brooks learned about the real estate business from his father. After graduating from high school in 1987, during his first full year selling real estate, he sold more than million in properties in the Grand Rapids area. Buying his first house at age 19, Brooks promptly sold it on a land contract and never looked back since! By age 24 he was an independent real estate broker. Re/Max recruited him as a franchisee in 1998. Three years later in 2001 he had about 40 agents, but another opportunity beckoned—an epiphany to specialize in the foreclosure real-estate market. In 2001, David made the shift from recruiting agents to selling foreclosures for all the major banks in the US. By the time in 2008, about the time the housing “bubble” burst he founded Brooks Real Estate Group as an independent broker. The foreclosure market spiked and he was averaged 400-500 closings annually. Brooks opened a second office in Novi in 2010 and by 2012 he moved to southeastern Michigan where he now currently resides living in downtown Detroit in the historic David Whitney Building. Since moving to the Detroit region, David has become a very active member in the community. In 2013, he befriended Dennis Archer, Jr. who sponsored him to become a member of the Detroit Athletic Club. Through the club David has made many invaluable contacts and connections. In the morning, you will often find him in the pool with the Masters Swim Program swimming between 10,000 to 12,000 yards per week as well as running the Dequindre cut about 2-3 times per week.
