The Action Factory LA
Writer-director Daven Baptiste was inspired to make films after watching the movie The Learning Tree, directed by legendary photog Gordon Parks. Raised in Compton, Ca DBaptiste never imagined he had a shot at a movie career until he saw the boom of urban filmmakers (School Daze, Menace To Society) take the helm and tell their stories in their own unique ways.
After graduating from San Diego State University, he began his career as a entrepreneur with a boutique agency called, "Designskilz" in the city of Westwood, CA, where he oversaw production over Key Art for films such as: Clockers, Girls 6, Light It Up and SOUL FOOD, and picked up the experience in lighting, photography and producing.
Dbaptiste didn't make the transition into full-length feature films, however, produced Matchups (2002 AUDIENCE CHOICE WINNER- Hollywood Black Film Festival) and wrote his fourth screenplay, A NIGHT IN COMPTON, which went on to win the 2004 Audience Choice Award at the Hollywood Black Film Festival.
In 2005, DBaptiste started Relevant Content+Media and RCM Media Labs as a outlet for bringing stories to audiences using a multiple of digital mediums.
In 2012, Dbaptiste has founded the first co-working community in the South Bay of Los Angeles called, THE ACTION FACTORY LA. This 8,500 Sq. Ft. facilities is home to artist, dreamers, startups, photogs, and everyone in between.
