One of the hardest questions to answer is, 'What do you plan on doing with your degree?' It's one I love being asked because much like science, the answer is often unclear and complicated. I am a senior biology major at NCCU. From genetics to botany, if it's biology I'm on board. I'm an avid outdoorsman and always have been. I grew up in a rural town outside Cleveland, Ohio. I moved to North Carolina my junior year of high school and fell in love with the state. NC's natural beauty knows no bound. I began my education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. However, after six semesters I decided to transfer to NCCU. NCCU better fits my personality, ambitions, and career goals. I plan on graduating in May of 2016.

After I receive my degree, I hope to attend law school at NCCU. It may seem strange to think about any science major attending law school. However, with the exponential increase in scientific discovery comes new problems. Technology allows us to access an infinite amount of information at anytime, anywhere. This means that organization and accreditation is changing. Scientists rely more on lawyers than ever before. Although patent and library law are often viewed as curtailments to the scientific community, it is important to give credit where credit is due. I hope to study law for this reason. I have experience in multiple lab settings and understand how much collaboration and effort goes into a scientific publication. For this reason I feel that I would be a great asset to universities and corporations alike. Preserving intellectual property is not only wise, it is essential. Doing so allows the scientific community to grow while staying organized, and I wish nothing more than to be an integral part of the process for decades to come.
