David Bowlin, Ed.D.

Avon, Ohio

I am responsible for providing strong, decisive and energetic leadership to all levels of Ohio Distance and Electronic Learning Academies, a premier and innovative online public school focused on providing an outstanding 21st century education. As Superintendent, my primary charge is for the overall strategic vision, mission, organizational and operational policies of the Academies within the boundaries established by the Board of Directors. I oversee the senior leadership team that is charged with the day-to-day activities of the school to ensure the school is operating at the highest level and in accordance with all federal, state and local laws. As a visionary leader, my role will be to engage the staff, students and community in making the Ohio Distance and Electronic Learning Academies a desired educational option in the state of Ohio.

I began at Baldwin Wallace University in 2011 and am currently a Lecturer III in the Division of Education, where I teach courses in Educational Leadership. Following the completion of my Doctorate in Administration and Policy Studies from the University of Pittsburgh, I focused my attention on school leadership and held several positions including Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, Principal, Director of Curriculum and Professional Development and Superintendent. My interests include Education Law and the impact the understanding of current and past Case Law has on school administrator decision making.
