Historian and Commentator on democracy and Europe in Belgium / Sweden
I am a Belgian historian with a particular focus on European integration, with academic degrees in history (Ghent University) and EU law (Durham University). During my professional career as a Director at the central securities depository Euroclear, I became a recognised expert in corporate governance and risk management, as well as a valued author and editor of strategic documents.
An engaged public commentator, I have strong views on democracy, climate action, and closer European unity.
Outside my professional life, I am an avid recreational runner and hiker, with a particular love for Nordic nature. In addition to my native Dutch, I speak English and French, as well as Swedish and Norwegian. I nurture a personal ambition to one day settle in a Nordic home by a fjord.
