Brief Occupational Biography
Mine was a happy birth and idyllic childhood with a lot of books, Disneyland, great vacations and sweet holidays. I went to parochial school until 10th grade, then to a rock and roll high school. Writing and publicist work were natural to me. In a team effort with other talented young people, while a teenager, I published and wrote for a widely acclaimed rock fanzine called Back Door Man for 3 years. I interviewed celebrities like Patti Smith, Gene Simmons, and Blondie. At the same time, I managed a rock band called the Zippers and obtained gigs for them opening for both Tom Petty and Patti Smith.
In my twenties, I decided to work on my education and wrote for the UCLA Bruin while attending UCLA. I also wrote and published articles on education (Santa Monica-Malibu Adult School Voice) and art (LA Printers Society Journal) while teaching ESL, life skills, English, amnesty classes, and general education to citizens and immigrants at adult school for 10 years. I also taught writing and grammar to ESL students at community college for 17 years. During this time, I worked on a successful $150,000.00 technology grant for University Adult School, and served as union representative at Santa Monica Adult School.
More recently, I worked as a call center and customer service representative for a medical company for 5 years. I am currently a caregiver for my elderly mother. I am seeking employment in writing, education, customer service or sales with a well-established organization.
