W. Dean McNallen
San Antonio, TX
Through a “life lens,” of Willard Dean McNallen, he can be seen as a limitless explosion of creativeness. With a background of Art and Art education and video production, Dean touts himself as one who strives for excellence and honestly believes he can do just about anything.
Graduating with a BFA degree in Advertising Art and Design from the University of Texas-Pan American, Dean has incorporated other training skills to the whole package such as Art Education, Video production in both news and advertising. He has incorporated his artistic background into his passion of video production looking at subjects not just as a story or lesson, but also as an opportunity to peel away the skin and reveal the best of what there is to the subject or topic at hand in both composition and perspective.
After 13 years as of teaching as a secondary art teacher, as an elementary gifted and talented teacher, and as a instructor training teachers in computer technology, Dean has taken existing and proven instructional, strategies, and has created a series of video training modules for 24/7 access, with the purpose of reaching the new 21 century learner. “Connecting with the audience and conveying the message in today’s society is what I strive to do.”
As an Instructional designer Dean has had opportunity to do what most teachers are not able to do on a regular basis. Observe and learn. Teachers, on entering the field of education, are given very little time to glean from others and their strength and successes. Many want concrete strategies with video examples in real world situations. “If you look at this more globally we all have a need to be the best at what we can do for our employer and yes, even ourselves.”
