Dean Borland

With more than 20 years of experience in business, Dean Borland has served for the last 10 years as the Vice President of Development of Midwest Development Company in Chicago, Illinois. In this capacity, Dean Borland has overseen the acquisition of a number of commercial and multi-unit residential properties around Chicago and West Michigan. In addition to acquiring properties, Dean Borland has overseen construction and design teams as they work to build and renovate apartment buildings, restaurants, hotels, and condominium developments. Dean Borland holds Real Estate Broker Licenses in Michigan and Illinois. Dean Borland attended Michigan State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing in 1989. After earning his undergraduate degree, Dean Borland accepted a position as Sales Manager and Senior Account Specialist at The Dow Chemical Company in Chicago. At The Dow Chemical Company, Dean Borland managed a 15-state territory worth $16 million and directed a team of 9 salespeople. Dean Borland also researched and acquired the patent for the "Borland Board," an invention that has been sold and used on several major commercial projects, including O'Hare International Airport, the Sears Tower, and Prudential Plaza. With his undergraduate education and experience with The Dow Chemical Company as a foundation, Dean Borland earned a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance in 1996 from DePaul University. After receiving his MBA, Dean Borland became a Commercial Leader in the Marketing and Market Development divisions of General Electric Company in Chicago. In this role, he trained and evaluated the sales teams as they worked with customers and also introduced a number of strategies that helped team members with problem solving and innovation. After two years with General Electric Company, Dean Borland was recruited to lead Haworth Inc. as a Group Brand Manager, where he remained for three years. As Group Brand Manager, Dean Borland directed the company's branding and marketing activities and provided his expertise on mergers and acquisitions while working to sustain revenue streams and maintain Haworth Inc.'s market share. In 2001, Dean Borland left Haworth Inc. to accept his current position at Midwest Development Company.
