hi, I am a girl human who is an academic linguist. I'm really into the ~study~ of language, in a scientific sense. no I don't speak seven languages fluently. that's not what a linguist is. that's a polyglot. I also probably don't know the exact etymology of a word any more than you do, tho sometimes I can deduce. to put it broadly, I'm more interested in language variation & change--trying to obtain or interpret data to help answer theoretical questions about how language variation/change happens or why it happens. 'THRILLING,' you're thinking. WELL, GUESS WHAT. IT IS.

aside from that, lotsa my original twit followers know me more as a sometimes musicwriter. I've written for sites but not after 2011 because I realized, "o yah online media ad models are weird & we shouldn't trust them."

I'm not using this to "connect" (I've disabled everything that allows people to search me, unless they're looking to bond over "dank memes"). it's a placeholder page I'm using to give ppl even an inkling of wtf I do since my twit bio is always downright spartan for privacy reasons (also overly professional or srs twit bios are kinda dumb). sorry I'm not sharing much.
