A Proud Member Of PARENTS AGAINST ILLEGAL DRUGS Parents Against Illegal Drugs (P.A.I.D)'s primary mission is to locate, rehabilitate, train people for employment and help support adult and juveniles who are addicted to the sale and use of drugs. Every interested adult and juvenile will be given the opportunity to participate in this program which is geared to help them become a more productive citizen in their community. Counseling and support groups will also be made available to adults and juveniles alike, during the course of the program. P.A.I.D. believes that in fixing the whole person, not just a specific area; since drug addiction doesn’t just affect the individual, but affects the entire surrounding community as well. P.A.I.D. was founded by Sheriff Deputy Wylie Foster of Amite, La. Deputy Foster found the need to implement this program in his community and the surrounding communities in hopes of reshaping the communities by removing the supply and demand for illegal drugs. Deputy Foster has spoken with numerous citizens in the community who have related to him that they feel that nothing can be done about the sale and use of illegal drugs due to fear of retaliation by drug dealers. Citizens fear that law enforcement officers would reveal to the drug dealers the name of the source from which they received their information. With these sounds of disparity, Deputy Foster sought to develop a plan that would bridge this gap between the citizens of the community and local law enforcement. P.A.I.D. would ask for the community to take the “L.I.O.N.” approach through observation. The L.I.O.N. approach simple means to, “L”ocate the person that sales the illegal drugs, “I”dentify the person that sales or uses the illegal drugs, “O” bserve the person that sales or uses the illegal drugs, and “N”otify P.A.I.D. at the toll free number which will be provided. P.A.I.D. will also seek to assist the Drug Court by providing the court with a detailed plan to help rehabilitate the illegal drug offenders. P.A.I.D. is asking for the local law enforcement to join in this all important effort in reshaping the entire parish, one community at a time. Thank You and God Bless! Sincerely,Wylie Foster
