Born and raised in western Newfoundland, I attended Memorial University of Newfoundland where I received a Bachelor of Primary/Elementary Education in 2008.

I started my first teaching position the fall after I graduated. I had the pleasure of teaching in a private Christian school primarily teaching grade 5 as well as teaching science and health to grades 3-6. During that school year I learned so much about myself and about my true passion in life, to teach children. My students enjoyed my lessons and they were eager for the next lesson. As a teacher, I strive to make learning fun and educational. I believe children retain information better if it is presented to them in a way that they can comprehend and enjoy. While at this school, I was the elementary science teacher and I enjoyed creating lessons and labs for the children to participate in. Each week they left the lesson excited to learn about the next lesson.

In 2011, my husband and I moved from our home in Newfoundland to beautiful British Columbia where we were to start our life together. Shortly after arriving in BC, I had the opportunity to teach a combined class of grade 5 and 6 at another private Christian school. The school I taught at was a school for children with learning disabilities. While there I was able to reach out to the children and help them learn things that they did not realize they could do. Seeing a student learn to read and write when they've spent years not being able to is the greatest joy I've experienced as a teacher.

In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, mountain biking, baking and enjoying the company of friends and family. I am learning photography and have taken a great interest in using my SLR camera to capture our moments in nature. I also practice yoga weekly at a local studio.
