Dean Richards

I am a former U.S. Navy engine-room supervisor trying to make a leap into the world of IT management. I am a soon to be Business & Technology graduate of the University of Connecticut with concentrations in Management and Finance.
I recently completed an internship at Traveler’s insurance where I was in the role of a documaker developer. As a documaker developer, I was a part of a team using an iterative approach in developing a new system of servicing a personal insurance auto policy. I’ve also been spending a lot of time volunteering as a web developer for a local non-profit called The Guyana Kaieteur Group Inc. I’ve been increasing the organization’s visibility by developing their website, as well as creating and maintaining a social network profile. I am also working on starting an after school/summer program to teach inner city children about programming with the most popular languages. Thus far in the process I’ve conducted a feasibility study, written a business plan, and recorded countless hours researching and networking with others that can help bring this dream into fruition.
