Falling in love is child's play, isn't it? It's a piece of cake... I know so well the ups and downs, trepidation and absolute joy, and the occasional shock to your system when it comes to falling in (and out of) love. "Child's Play" is my new CD, which began as a collection of some of my favorite jazz standards and four of my own original songs; two of which I woke up singing in their entirety a while back and always wanted to record. The other two originals were lyrics that I contributed to my friends' music. Now the album has evolved into an epic of love in songs that span the initial insecurity and risk-taking all the way to the parenting and purpose of loving a child. All this with an amazing array of the greatest South Florida musical talent performing with me in bebop, swing, fusion, bossa nova and gospel. It is the culmination of my life in music, pulling from my many influences in a lifetime of singing from the heart. It's a dream come true, and a beginning, a time of sharing my art.
