Slow = Local, Sustainable, Handmade, Timeless. Applying the principles of the slow movement to decorating. To me, "Slow Home" means that our dwellings and furniture should be carefully considered (given their impact on our health & the planet), grounded in the place where we live, reflect our personality & history, & support our desire to live creatively. Our homes should give us a feeling of coziness, timelessness, solidity, and permanence, instead of being disposable and trend-driven.
I am currently taking a research sabbatical from my values-based interiors business, ecoDomestica reDesign, to establish my aesthetic as a textile artist & slow designer. I blog about all aspects of the slow movement at Sustainable | Slow | Stylish, and bicycle culture at Loop-Frame Love. I am also part of the small-but-mighty team of volunteers who run TheLocalGood.ca - chchcheck us out.
