Debra Fioritto brings passion, commitment and irrepressible enthusiasm to her role as the U.S representative for the Sites of Exceptional Culinary Taste in France.
Passionate about culinary tourism and its possibilities, she works with Tour de Forks, a luxury travel company, to design “uncommon epicurean adventures” in France.
Prior to this, she was the editor/writer for the New York Times blog about French cuisine at about.com. As an expert in the history of French cuisine and culinary traditions, she writes and speaks about travel in France, French cuisine and culinary tourism.
She loves designing and conducting classes about French wines, French cheeses and her personal favorite, “Finding the perfect mariage: French Cheese and Wine”. She is a member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals and a winner of the The Culinary Trust’s Julia Child Scholarship for study in France. In 2007, she presented a program entitled, “A Culinary Pilgrimage to France” at the New York Times Travel Show. She also conducts webinars on culinary tourism for the Travel Institute.
Her professional interests range from food writing, recipe developing to SEO and social media strategy and implementation. She also volunteers as an advocate for victims of domestic abuse.
She writes a weekly column on French Cuisine for Bonjour Paris. She also works as a web content analyst for the Department of Defense and is studying for an M.S. in Media Arts & Science.
