Debra L. Stokes-Moore
I am an Architectural Engineering graduate from the University of Texas at Austin, Class of 1978 and retired from the practice of Engineering in 2009. I have been married to my soul mate, Herb Moore, since 1981. We have lived all over the United States since then, and currently reside in central Florida and Washington state. My husband and I share the passions of traveling, sailing, hiking, and enjoying the fine arts. We have traveled internationally together, including Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas, Chile, Switzerland, France, England, Italy, Greece, Estonia, St. Petersburg in Russia, Sharjah and Dubai in the U.A.E., and Tokyo. I also toured parts of southern and eastern Australia and both the north and south islands of New Zealand in 1980 - before I married my husband. We have been exploring the Pacific Northwest coasts of the USA and Canada on our fair weather home, a 1980 Pearson, 42' ketch, the S.V. Far From Turtle, since fall of 2010. I am currently self teaching drawing and painting. I am using the Internet to learn phrases in as many foreign languages as I can absorb. I enjoy the opera, art museums, theater and films. I have been writing a novel since 2005 (someday I'll actually self publish), which is currently at an unruly 100,000 words. I believe world peace is a reality that this planet can achieve with focus and a plan. I look forward to contributing my energies and to networking with any serious individual or group pursuing this noble goal. I believe the Internet will make this goal a reality before the year 2100. Milestones to achieve global peace, include, in my opinion: poverty and disease conquered globally, sustainable energy and agriculture brought to every corner of the globe, populations everywhere self governed, and opportunities to work, succeed, prosper and pursue happiness available everywhere. Wishing peace, prosperity, and good will to all. Laura Moore - A.K.A. Debra L. Stokes-Moore
