Like many, I started doing computers back in school in the 1970’s. We were using the standard computers of the time which were trs-180 (Radio shack) and Commodore computers (Basic programmed computers). When I went into the Marine Corps for the 1st 4 years I was a computer operator in the supply section. We were using basic Unix based computer systems. While in the Corps, I was placed in tech and research operation in MIS for the Military. This is where I learned databases and programming using computer punch cards and finally magnetic tapes. After leaving the service I started programming computers while a student at the College of William & Mary learning Pasqual and Assembly and other programming languages. While in school I was working for campus Police. I was also the only student selected to attend a 3 week training class in making programs for law enforcement at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA., This was quite an honor. My co-students were from Law Enforcement agencies abroad and around the U.S.

During this time personal computers were being developed and we integrated then in the school computer system to replace dumb terminals. This was in the middle 1980’s. When in College I worked part time in the computer section using Prime computers and connecting with modem technologies. The computers were connected via usenet, the predecessor of the world wide web. After College I integrated personal computer systems with Law Enforcement and customized databases for law enforcement applications. After college I started selling my skill set to agencies in computer programming. From then I learned the hardware aspect of computers and incorporated this into my skill set. Starting in the 1990’s is where the below listed skill sets took off. After leaving the public sector the following is what I have been doing. When it comes to servers, I have two servers of my own in my office. One is a Linux box and the other is a Back Office Business Server box. I use the Linux for web databases and web site server & DNS server. The Back Office box is for email, SQL & Databases and Blackberry server. During the recent Presidential election I volunteered my services to Barack Obama’s campaign running local some telemarketing programs locally & database statistical analysis for the Democratic National party.
