Teacher in Wisconsin

I’m Deena Larsen. I’m an English teacher living in Wisconsin. I am a fan of photography, reading, and riding my bike. I’m also interested in gardening and education.

I have a 26 year old son who is a game designer and a 24 year old daughter who is going to graduated school in New York City. I have two sisters and one brother. My father is 82 and a retired doctor and my mom is 81 and a retired nurse.

Lately I've been jazzed up about trying to live more sustainably on the earth. I want to learn more and help others to learn how to take better care of the planet. I grow my food organically, without any chemicals. I live by the phrase, "reduce, reuse, recycle." I compost my food waste and use that to help my garden to grow better.

I believe in lifelong education. I graduated college from UW Madison with a double major in Economics and International Relations. I attended to Silver Lake College and got certified to teach as a social studies teacher. I went to UW-Milwaukee and acquired my license to be a school principal. I went to UW-Oshkosh to be certified to be an English teacher.

As a teacher, I want to connect my students to the outside world via technology; I want them to dream and create. As we learn and explore together, I want to trust them to interact with others in a positive manner, both online and offline. I love language and word play.

I think I am rather laid back. I actually have a bad temper but I have a very high boiling point, meaning that it usually takes a lot to get me mad. I don't yell.
