Deepa is a part-time writer, full-time reader, rumoured activist and an unabashed feminist. A graduate in Literature from the University of Delhi, she holds a post graduate diploma in print journalism from the Indian Institute of Journalism and New Media, Bangalore.

She has written articles for a couple of e-publications, web portals and blogs, while having worked with the editorial desk of The New Indian Express in Madurai for a year. She is also a recipient of the Laadli National Media Award for Gender Sensitivity 2011-12. Her story on male child sex abuse won the "Best Web Feature (English)".

She went on to pursue her Masters in Women's Studies from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and has written her MA dissertation on 'Women in 21st Centurry South Asian Erotic Literature'. She has previously worked as a Content Director for a student start-up online magazine overseeing work of budding writers, and as a Communications & Outreach Associate for Feminist Approach to Technology, a nonprofit working to bridge the gap between feminism, gender and technology.

From 2015-2022, she managed all online (and sometimes offline) communications and virtual messaging at FRIDA | The Young Feminist Fund, the only youth-led fund focused exclusively on supporting young feminist organizing worldwide. She currently works as the Editorial Manager at Thousand Currents, an organization that mobilizes resources in support of grassroots groups and social movements around the world working on building better and just climate, food and economy. Deepa works with a global team of activists, researchers, feminists and technologists and enjoys the tricks and treats of working from home.

On a more random note, she likes frothy and milky coffee, white chocolate and books, but not necessarily in that order. She loves to blog when not feeling particularly moody and is bitten by the Polaroid pest.
