Hi!

I am Gizem, a certified natural cosmetics formulator and a small business owner in Porto.

I was born in Bursa and moved to Porto in 2015. I used to make soaps with my aunt back in Turkey and I used to enjoy it so much that I started to dive deeper and learn more about soap-making in several ways. There was a lot to discover! My curiosity continued and I decided to take an extensive training course on formulating plant-based and sustainable cosmetics to create formulas for high quality creams, serums, shampoos, conditioners, lip balms, deodorants, masks, and the list goes on!

I am also interested in environmental issues, which I believe are now more important than ever due to the nature of both the literal and political climate. That is why I avoid using plastics and any kind of animal-derived ingredients in my products.

Defné Natural is a proposal for everyone to have a more sustainable and non-toxic skincare routine using minimally processed, freshly made, and biodegradable products. Every stage of the production is small batched from plant-derived materials that are naturally beneficial for all types of skin and hair. I always prioritize using local and organic ingredients. Also, I exclusively use the ingredients grown and picked up from our own garden.

I could not provide a wide range of products yet, as I do have a full-time job in HR which I also like! Yet, sometimes I wish I had more time to dedicate to creating skincare products.

Soap-making is still my favorite, as you might be spammed by photos on social platforms :)
