The Alleycat

I have been in the entertainment buisness 36 years now and I must say sometimes I have wondered was it worth it! God knows we are born into this life with a gift that most people do not understand. I have seen people that make it to the top of the charts that belong working at Burger King. I have seen Music Artists that are at the top of their game that cannot even get a fair shake in a buisness that is failing the true music artists of this world.I myself have played in 41 bands since age 16 and have really suffered to understand the way the game is played. Because in the real world it is more then just raw talent it is media diamonds and the look of a backstreet boy that leads you into the top spots in this buisness. I am very good at what I do perhaps because I never gave up and paid my toll many times over. If you were to put me in a room with 100 singers I would end up in the top 10. If you put a guitar in my hands I would end up in the top 3. Painting the perfect picture is what the music buisness has become not like in the 60's or even the 70's when talent was looked upon as a rare gift from God himself. I now own my own recording studio after many years of playing bars and clubs that the normal average person would run past the doors as not to be shot. I have slept in my youth in a van traveling the United States not knowing where I was going I just turned the key and drove thoustands of miles and would spot places on the road side and walk in with my guitar and say to the owner do you want to make some real money? Then hire me and out of confusion 8 out of 10 times I would be hired the other 2 times thrown out as someone who just walked off from outer space. But I have always been that way. I love what I do hell if asked to pump gas in my car I would have no idea were to begin. I am the Juke Box Hero in many ways you could say. I haver worked with several famous music artists such as Josh Turner and Don Henley But all things are short lived when breaking bread with Kings of this buisness. I now after many years have become a DJ moving like the speed of light across the United States and I must admit that a DJ is just as popular with the females as a lead guitar player for a metal band but that is not what life is all about when you turn 50 in this buisness you work 3 times the pace to keep up with the youth. I will die doing what I do. Because inside my soul are notes and words of songs unwritten. and I can never rest until the words become music.
