Valdosta, Georgia
I'm a sophomore history major at Valdosta State. After moving to Valdosta when I was ten years old, I quickly learned that it was not the place to thrive for a for someone who is seeking more. It is the perfect place to feel comfortable and safe, as long as you have no intention of leaving. Having saved money to travel all over North America and Europe, Southern Georgia just doesn't do it for me, especially after having recently returned from a month and a half long study abroad in Paris.
I have only just changed my major to history from international business. This may seem extremely odd, as it is told that it is nearly impossible to get a job with a history degree, but I decided to stop caring about the pressures of society. I believe that if you are passionate enough about something, you will do anything to make it happen, proven by the fact that I was able to have the amazing opportunity to attend a study abroad. Hopefully next year I will spend the year at university in the United Kingdom.
Before I changed my major, I had hopes of working at the YouTube center in Manchester, England for the French branch. As little as I tweet or Instagram, I love social media and find it a fascinating way to bring the world together, and as a proud Nerdfighter, decrease world suck.
As much as I love social media and playing with new technology, classic literature and art will always be at the center of my heart. When I say classic literature, I mean anything from Jane Eyre and Les Bonheurs des Dames to The Lord of the Rings and the A Song of Ice and Fire series. I have written mulitple essays on Tolkien's works. I also include nearly anything from the Marvel Universe as classic literature. Give it another twenty to fourty years and you will too.
I have many hobbies including diving, hiking, attending midnight movie premiers, and devoting too much of my time to certain TV and movie fandoms. I also love to read other people's blogs and imagine that I could live as a professional blogger/vlogger.
