Delaney Levin
Leader, drummer, and composer for the fusion band Quasar, Delaney Levin is a groove inspired musician determined to swing, swish, and funkifize his way to the height of musical expression. A rudimental background has provided him with the necessary tools to excel in a wide variety of musics. With over nine years experience, taste and feel are paramount to this modern player with extensive ensemble experience including big bands, smaller jazz groups, and funk bands as well as rock and pop groups, but the groove doesn't stop when there are no drums. Delaney is also a competent conguero and is versed in the use of many percussion instruments.
He has played with local greats James Knapp, Chuck Deardorf, and Tom Varner and has even played with internationally acclaimed saxophonist, Rudresh Mahanthappa. When Delaney takes creative control, his ideas maximize the potential of his band mates. Currently leading the fusion group Quasar, he makes the most out of the simple quartet configuration. His compositions are as fun to listen to as they are to play, making tasteful use of advanced rhythmic and harmonic concepts. There is no job this versatile musician can't do.
