As Councilmember, Delano Hunter will apply a fresh lens to addressing the fundamental needs of Ward 5. 1. QUALITY EDUCATION, JOB PREPARATION, AND OPPORTUNITY where youth are exposed to STEM, performing arts, and vocational based curriculum. Work diligently to bring a DCPS Middle School to Ward 5. Ensure adult residents are equipped to participate in DC's thriving employment market. Local, small businesses can grow with the $3 Billion in economic development slated for Ward 5.

2. QUALITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT that respects the tradition of our ward, enhances the retail amenities, and contributes to our local tax base. Introduce smart development policies and require feasibility studies that include input from the Ward 5 community.

3. QUALITY COMMUNITIES where public safety and constituent services is the top priority. Implement traffic calming measures, and appreciate the value of Ward 5's green space & sight lines. Open a constituent services office, provide lower response time to residents' concerns, and issue annual reports.
