Delece Smith-Barrow

D.C.

Delece Smith-Barrow is a little multicultural and a lot multifaceted. A blend of D.C., Maryland and the small Caribbean country of Guyana, she writes, edits, produces and strategizes -- all in the name of journalism.

Her career started in 2002 as a journalism major at the University of Maryland. Coverage of the post-"Baywatch" TV career for a certain blonde star and mixing religion over the holidays lead to internships and eventually her first job as a producer for washingtonpost.com.

She's written on everything from how to decorate a teen's bedroom to why straight women like hanging out with female strippers.

Her work has appeared in U.S. News & World Report, The Washington Post, The Root, The Washington Informer, Clutch magazine and AOL. Along the way, she received her master's in journalism from Georgetown University.

It's been 10+ years since she officially declared journalism as her forte, but -- despite her reporting taking her to the depths of 21 and up, liquor infused parties -- her petite frame and baby face still has many wondering if she's still a budding college reporter.
