Delta Sigma Pi Upsilon Chapter
The University of Illinois proudly hosts the Upsilon chapter of Delta Sigma Pi. This professional business fraternity was established within the College of Business and has been actively contributing to the University and its surrounding community since April 29, 1922. The Fraternity has 203 active chapters and 10 colonies with over 235,000 initiated members carrying out successful business worldwide. The Upsilon chapter has gained great recognition throughout the UIUC College of Business, with receiving the 2011 RSO of the Year Award for all registered student organizations within the Urbana-Champaign campus, as well as having faculty initiates as brothers. Within the Upsilon chapter, fraternal activities focus on three major aspects: professionalism, community service, and brotherhood. Delta Sigma Pi's professional emphasis is devoted to helping one another develop exemplary interviewing and resume-writing techniques, improving public speaking and leadership skills, as well as opening doors to various career opportunities through our extensive alumni networks. In addition, through professional speakers and sponsors, brothers have the opportunity to get one-on-one experience with recruiters and successful leaders of various companies, including "The Big Four" accounting firms, Grant Thorton, Crowe Horwath, and countless more. Community service ranks high among the priorities of the fraternity with some of the past activities including helping at the Developmental Services Center, The Red Cross, local food banks, Relay for Life, and American Cancer Society. Finally, the most important aspect of the Delta Sigma Pi Upsilon chapter is genuine brotherhood. Brothers develop lasting relationships with brothers while helping each other gain the tools to succeed in the business world. Delta Sigma Pi's vast alumni network gives brothers the competitive advantage in internship and career pursuits. Through first-hand information and contemporary experiences, these alumni professionals serve as mentors who continually help undergraduate brothers define their academic, personal, and career aspirations. The brothers of the Upsilon chapter learn to live and work with each other, to share experiences and ideas, and to observe and develop principles of leadership, communication, and human relations. The practice for tolerance, considerations, and mutual respect are important benefits generated from the teamwork environment found in the Delta Sigma Pi experience.
